The boiling point is 146°C, or 46~47°C (800Pa).

Insoluble in water, miscible in oil.

Production method: First, diisothiourea ethane bromide is synthesized from dibromoethane and thiourea, and then 1,2-dimercaptoethane is obtained by treating with sodium hydroxide and sulfuric acid.
