The preparation method of 2-chloroethynylbenzene is by reaction of phenylacetylene with sodium hypochlorite; it can also be prepared by reaction of sodium phenylacetylide with p-toluenesulfonyl chloride or lithium phenylacetylide and N-chlorosuccinimide.
