Chemical Properties | Back Directory | [Occurrence]
An aconitine alkaloid, ranaconitine occurs in the ethanolic extract of the Bulgarian plant
Aconitum ranunculaefolium. It forms colourless needles when crystallized from EtOH and
is dextrorotatory with a specific rotation of [α]D +33.2° (c 0.5, CHCI3 ). Hydrolysis with
5% KOH furnishes ranaconine, C23H37NO7 , m.p. 107-109°C and N-acetylanthranilic
acid. | [Melting point ]
